To apply for a ESTA it is required to be in possession of:
- a valid passport, issued by one of the eligible countries (Visa Waiver Program);
- an e-mail address;
- a credit card, or a possibility of completing your application with payment with one of the many available electronic payment methods.
To fill the form for an ESTA authorization you only have to provide the personal and passport details; there is no need for you to attach your passport copy or any additional documents.
The data provided while filling out the application must be the same as written in the passport. While traveling, you are obliged to use the same passport, as the one you have used for applying.
Requirements on arrival
Once the American government grants your ESTA, it will be sent to the e-mail address provided in the application form. Your ESTA authorization will be automatically assigned to your passport number electronically. There is no need for you to print the grant confirmation out. The only document that is required at the airport is the valid passport that has been used while applying for an ESTA.
The visa will remain valid for two year, from the issuance date, or until your passport expires, whichever comes first.
Since a granted ESTA is electronically assigned to your passport, once you exchange it for a new one, it is required for you to acquire a new ESTA before your planned arrival to the United States.
